Konfiguracja używa wtyczki dmix, do wypuszczenia całości dźwięku na kartę. Dmix potrafi połączyć wiele streamów jednocześnie, dzięki czemu unikamy sytuacji w której urządzenie /dev/snd/pcm* jest zajęte (jest, owszem, ale przez dmix) i jeden program odtwarza dzwięk, a inne muszą czekać na zwolnienie urządzenia.

Przykład najprostszej z możliwych konfiguracji poniżej.

Od momentu emisji na antenie TVN’u programu Uwaga! traktującego o tej sprawie, do dnia dzisiejszego minęły zaledwie dwa dni, a sprawa urosła do ogromnej afery, na której niestety stracą uczciwi producenci przetworów garmażeryjnych w naszym kraju. A całą sprawę można było załatwić inaczej!

Należało po cichu zbadać, przekazać odpowiednim organom (policja/prokuratura, Sanepid, nadzór weterynaryjny, itp.) i _DOPIERO_ po całkowitym wycofaniu produktu z rynku poinformować o tym opinię publiczną. Sytuacja typu win< ->win. I wilk syty [TVN bo ocalił nas przed parszywej jakości imitacją mięsa o marnych walorach smakowych i paskudnej jakości (mój kot by tego nie tknął), oraz my - bo ta podróba nie trafiła na nasze stoły] i owca cała, gdyż uczciwi producenci nie poniosą strat…

A wyszło jak zwykle – TVN gonił za tanią sensację, a koszt takiej akcji poniesie przemysł garmażeryjny (a straty pójdą pewnie w grube miliony).

Na przyszłość dogi TVNie, czyż taki tytuł nie byłby lepszy z punktu widzenia PR: „TVN ocalił polskie społeczeństwo przed trucizną ze Szwecji”, niż: „TVN doprowadził do upadku wiele firm produkujących wytwory garmażeryjne”.

I obym się mylił – czego i sobie, i wam życzę.

• Dyer agreed to regular quarterly meetings with SOA

Sony PS3

• SCEA reiterated plans to sell 13 million PS3s this year
• Big announcement back half of year they can’t talk about (potentially price cut of PS3 to reach hardware goals)
• SCEA commented on indexing between PS3 and 360 SKUs, should be around 2:1 to garner most favorable treatment.

Motion Controller

• Spring 2010 launch (March in JP)
• No bundle/pricing details yet, should come Sept 1
• Plan on selling 4-5MM units WW
• SCEA agreed to provide a list of Sega IP that would work well with the motion controller, Virtua Tennis was an example
• Motion Controller support allows easy way to differentiate PS3 SKU

Alpha Protocol

• Michael Foster, product evaluator, said AP felt barely RPG. Initial level too challenging for players. “Mass Effect felt more RPG.”

• Sell in of PS3 SKU – SCEA noted that other movie titles on PS3 had underperformed as well (inc. Transformers) this cycle.

• HOME, Olympic destination would garner a lot of positive attention from SCEA
• Should be doing same with Bayonetta, Marvel etc. Easy to launch in all territories.
• HOME merchandizing opportunities (clothes etc).

Sonic Racing

• Open to DLC to differentiate PS3 SKU – not ratchet and clank but other characters
  • maybe characters from Rare or Fable universes

• Could put Japanese games directly on PSN for download in a special Japanese Import section (pricing $9.99 to $39.99 for full game).
• Might need to localize menus at least with subtitles.

• If we provide a list of DC titles SCEA will let us know which ones they’re interested in having exclusively.

PSP Titles

• For SKU differentiation it’s best to offer features that are slightly different from PS3 version.
• Titles that are coming up on PSP are Assassin’s Creed II, GTA China Wars, Resident Evil, Little Big Planet – all massive franchises.
• SCEA has a specific PSP deck which they can send up with their hardware director for a chat.

Here’s the deal: i’ve been assigned a task, to figure out a way to rotate security logs on a Windows server, which has leveraged auditing policies.

Problem: Eventlog retention mechanism under Windows does not allow for creating new log files when the current logfile grows to a certain limit (which is plain stupid and short-sighted). Windows built in mechanism can only overwrite the oldest entries with newer ones if the logfile size limit has been reached.

After some extensive googling, i finally stumbled upon one blog entry that has put me on the right track. Microsoft does have a tool for parsing the binary logfiles (and not only that, but you’ll have to figure it out by yourself), using SQL format queries as commands. It’s called „Log Parser” (how obvious!), and is featured here.

I’ve downloaded the tool and started playing with VBScript (damn you Microsoft for not adopting Bash) and Log Parser, to get the desired result. I won’t go into details, as the file posted below is pretty self-explanatory (and well commented too).

Anyway, here’s „the result” (it’s a gzipped/tared vbscript, some antiviruses might go crazy ’bout it).

Swojego czasu czytywałem również Megatokyo, Bug City, Nerdkya’ę oraz nieodżałowane szczecińskie Futerkowce. Część się skończyła (Futerkowce, Bug City), część znudziła, a część stała zbyt zakręcona by kontynuować lekturę (Megatokyo), ale zamieszczam ku pamięci i uciesze tych, co jeszcze nie czytali. Ciekaw jestem, czy tak jak ja – przebrniecie od pierwszego paska, do dnia dzisiejszego (wszystkie z listy powyżej zaliczone).

• ntdsutil – narzędzie zarządzania Active Directory na poziomie administracyjnym (tak – wiem, masło maślane!)
• dcdiag – narzędzie diagnostyczne kontrolera domeny
• gpotool – narzędzie do sprawdzania poprawności GPO (z pakietu Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools)

MSDTC Event ID 4143 and 53258 on Windows Server 2003 SP1 Domain Controller

I got hit by a problem on a freshly installed virtual machine using a slipstreamed SP1 installation and promoted to a domain controller. Two events were appearing in the event log which were unexpected.

MS DTC has detected that a DC Promotion has happened since the last time the MS DTC service was started.

MS DTC could not correctly process a DC Promotion/Demotion event. MS DTC will continue to function and will use the existing security settings.

To resolve this, go through the following steps:
- Start/Administrative Tools/Component Services
- Navigate the tree view on the left to:
– Console Root
– Component Services
– Computers
– My Computer
- Right click on „My Computer” and select properties
- Select the MSDTC Tab
- Under „Transaction Configuration” near the bottom, click „Security Configuration”
- On the Security Configuration screen, just click OK – don’t change anything.
- Back on the „My Computer Properties” screen, click OK again to dismiss
- Right click on „My Computer” in the tree view and select „Stop MS DTC”
- Right click on „My Computer” in the tree view and select „Start MS DTC”
- Close the Component Services snapin.

All should now be well again. Hope this helps someone.
